SCCA Partners with Mazda to Provide Increased Opportunities for Racers

Before becoming a cloud computing expert and senior manager at Pembroke, Massachusetts-based Congruity, Evan Loring was a football coach at Harvard University. A lover of sports and car racing, Evan Loring has supported the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).

In December 2016, SCCA announced it was partnering with Mazda Motorsports to expand new entries and opportunities for drivers in Formula Enterprises (FE) cars. There are over 100 FE car racers in the United States. Through the partnership, Mazda would support FE by qualifying the 2017 SCCA National Championship Runoffs FE winner to the Mazda Road to Indy Shootout, by providing increased contingency offerings to the top 10 SCCA Super Tour racers, and by providing marketing support to grow the exposure of drivers with great potential.

Speaking during the announcement at the annual Performance Racing Industry trade show, SCCA President Robey Clark and Mazda’s head of business development, David Cook, expressed optimism that the new partnership would give over 100 racers increased exposure, making it easier for talented drivers to be identified and promoted to bigger races.
