Headlined by the Florence Mary Leontine Welch, her eponymous group Florence and the Machine was formed in 2007. With a sound that merges pop, soul, and Baroque arrangements, the band gained considerable attention following the release of their debut album, Lungs, which became one of 2009's most popular albums. The band eventually gained the attention of American audiences with the single Dog Days Are Over, which peaked at number 21 on Billboard's Hot 100 charts.
